DRILLING OF HPHT SUB-SALINE WELLS IN AGUASSOMERAS OF THE GULF OF MEXICO.

SOURCE: oil and gas

Ecopetrol and Gran Tierra Energy agreed to extend the Incremental Hydrocarbon Production Contract for 20 years in the Suroriente block, located in the municipality of Puerto Asís, Putumayo

Preparatory These types of projects have challenges of drilling very thick saline bodies (intrusive salalochthone) and fractured carbonate reservoir zones in HPHT condition that affect the stability of the fluid and the condition of the hole. Among the main challenges are the great operational, logistical and economic impacts, generated by the rheological variation of the fluid, directional control, information gathering, hydrostatic balance (inflows and circulation losses) and the stability of the hole. Oil gas production, the main objective of drilling wells, has become an increasingly complex discipline that must be guided and evaluated with efficiency and profitability.

The fields with the greatest contribution of hydrocarbons come from deep carbonate reservoirs, which have been characterized by high pressure and temperature conditions, in addition to having geological events of great impact, such as salt domes, which in themselves are a challenge for any project. drilling.

This article described the most important areas during the planning and execution of complex wells to seek operational improvements, generate value and incorporate reserves into production. Finally, the standardization of lessons learned from the region and the benefits of using technologies when drilling complex wells were also described. These technologies (including practices and procedures) are those that allow drilling to be optimized, improved and achieved without accidents or environmental impacts and with scheduled times and costs.
