UK-based independent exploration and production company Panoro Energy has begun a three-well drilling campaign in Equatorial Guinea's Block G. Drilling of the new infill well was completed at the end of the first quarter of 2023, using the Island Innovator semi-submersible platform. Completion of the three-well project was scheduled for mid-last year. John Hamilton, CEO of Panoro Energy, said the project has the potential to increase gross production at the Ceiba field and Okume Complex from last year's average of 25,000 barrels of oil per day once completed.
"With Akeng Deep's infrastructure-led high-impact exploration well in Block S, which will follow the infill drilling campaign, and ongoing prospectivity assessment work in Block EG-01 operated by Panoro , we have an exciting set of organic growth opportunities at our disposal in Equatorial Guinea."
Block S, in which Panoro Energy has a 12% interest, is estimated to contain approximately 180 million barrels of oil and is located in close proximity to the existing infrastructure in Block G.
